Welcome to our NIVA online course on
Chemical Exposure and Cardiovascular Disease
27th – 29th of April 2021
Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is associated with several risk factors. This course will mainly focus on chemical exposure, particles and combination exposures in the working environment, while also paying attention to other risk factors connected with life style and environment. Possible disease mechanisms will be discussed, in addition to methods used in research in the field.
Course objectives
Associations between chemical exposures in workplaces and environment and prevalence of CVD will be presented, and possible explanatory mechanisms will be discussed. Relevant methods for use in research projects, including early markers for CVD, will also be covered.Main topics
* History of pollution and CVD
* Epidemiology of chemicals and CVD
* Mechanisms
* Biomarkers
* Other risk factors than chemicals
* Discrepancy between environmental and workplace epidemiology

Work Disability Prevention
– Bridging research and practice14th – 18th of June 2021
Kurhotel Skodsborg, Skodsborg, Denmark
This course presents “The Best Of” the highly valued 3-year course on Work Disability Prevention. Work disability occurs when a worker is impaired in performing his or her job. The objective of the course is to disseminate transdisciplinary knowledge with focus on theoretical, methodological, ethical and practical challenges in relation to work disability prevention. The target audience is PhD students, post-doctoral fellows and practitioners with a master’s degree who are linked to the work disability field.Main topics
Three different Work Disability Prevention topics will be addressed and integrated:
1. Introduction to Work Disability Prevention (including transdisciplinarity)
